On the Mount Wilson Trail to Orchard Camp and back – 8.6 miles total distance.
Race and Course Information
This year, the Mount Wilson Trail Race (MWTR) is back on the Mount Wilson Trail itself, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, with 7:30 a.m. start from Kersting Court. Online Registration for the MWTR opens on Monday, March 2, 2026, and can be done on the Mount Wilson Trail Race website. As part of the registration, you have the opportunity to donate to the Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund, which pays for the tools and supplies needed by the Trail Maintenance Crew volunteers..
There is a limit of 350 MWTR runners allowed for this special opportunity to run on the MWT. MWTR participants must be ages 14 years and older only. All MWTR paid entries receive a special MWTR t-shirt and goodie bag.
The MWTR will start and end in the traditional Kersting Court location, going up Baldwin Avenue to Mira Monte Ave., up to the Mount Wilson Trailhead gate, continuing on the Mount Wilson Trail up to Orchard Camp, which is the turnaround point. The total distance is 8.6 miles.
Race day packet pick-up begins at 6:00 a.m. in Kersting Court. All runners are encouraged to bring their own water supply for use during the race. Emergency support from Sierra Madre Search & Rescue team will be stationed at strategic points along the course to provide aid, as necessary. Sierra Madre Cub Scouts Troop 110 and Sierra Madre Boy Scouts Trop 110 will hand out water to the runners at “First Water” and at the “Orchard Camp” turnaround.
Registration for the Kids’ Fun Run (ages 3 – 13) is FREE and can be done on the MWTR website. All children participating in the Kids’ Fun Run receive a Kids’ Fun Run t-shirt and finisher’s ribbon. Immediately following the start of the 2026 MWTR, the Kids’ Fun Run will begin in Kersting Court at approximately 7:45 a.m.
The start of the Kids’ Fun Run is staggered, with children ages 8 – 13 beginning first and then followed by children ages 3 – 7. Kids’ Fun Run participants run up Baldwin Ave. and back to Kersting Court. The total distances are 1.0 mile for ages 8 – 13 and .6 miles for ages 3 – 7. Parents may accompany their younger children during the Kids’ Fun Run.
