MOUNT WILSON TRAIL RACE 2025 – “MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run”
Race and Course Information
This year, the Mt. Wilson Trail Race Committee is hosting a unique “MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run” event within the Sierra Madre city limits on Saturday, October 4, 2025, beginning at 8:00 a.m. in Kersting Court. Registration for the “MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run” will open soon on the Mount Wilson Trail Race website, with a portion of the registration fee going to the Fletcher Trail Maintenance Fund. The “MWT 5K Recovery Run” will start and end in the traditional Kersting Court location, going up Baldwin Avenue to Mira Monte Ave., up to the Mount Wilson Trailhead gate, then going west along Carter Ave. to the top of the Bailey Canyon Park settling basin, before heading back to Baldwin Ave. to the Finish Line. While participants will not be able to access Mount Wilson Trail and Bailey Canyon Trail that day, they at least can see where these wonderful trails start and why it is so important to have both trails repaired and ready to open ASAP for the public’s access and enjoyment.
Because this is a special 5K race/run/walk, there is no limit in the number of participants this year and all skill levels and ages are welcome to register. ONLINE registration for the 2025 Mt. Wilson Trail Race “MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run” will open soon. All paid entries receive a t-shirt and goodie bag. Race day registration will not be available.
Race day packet pick-up begins at 6:00 a.m. in Kersting Court. All runners are encouraged to bring their own water supply for use during the race. Emergency support from Sierra Madre Search & Rescue team will be stationed at strategic points along the course to provide aid, as necessary. Sierra Madre Cub Scouts Troop 110 and Sierra Madre Boy Scouts Trop 110 will hand out water to the runners at strategic places on the course.
Registration for the Kids’ Fun Run (ages 3 – 13) is FREE and will take place on the morning of the “MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run” event. All children participating receive a t-shirt and finisher’s ribbon. Immediately following the start of the 2025 “MWTR 5K Trail Recovery Run”, Kids’ Fun Run will begin in Kersting Court at approximately 7:45 a.m.
The start of the Kids’ Fun Run is staggered, with children ages 8 – 13 beginning first and then followed by children ages 3 – 7. Kids’ Fun Run participants run up Baldwin Ave. and back to Kersting Court. The total distances are 1.0 mile for ages 8 – 13 and .6 miles for ages 3 – 7. Parents may accompany their younger children during the Kids’ Fun Run.
