2023 – 4-28-23 – Mt. Wilson Trail Race News

April 27, 2023

Dear Mt. Wilson Trail Racer and Supporters:

We Are Four Weeks Out from the MWTR!

Space Still Available

I hope your training is going well and that you have secured your spot in the race on Saturday, May 27. We have some space left, so go to www.mountwilsontrailrace.com to sign up.  We will take 350 participants and start a wait list for anyone after that.

Get to Run With Us for Your MWTR Needs!

We are grateful that Run With Us will again be supporting the race with gift cards for top runners this year. They have been a sponsor of our race ever since I have been involved with the race. Whether it’s a new pair of trail shoes, apparel, hydration gear or energy boosts, Peter Van Gansen and his excellent team have it all. Please support this great member of the running community. They will be out in force on race day! Run With Us is located at 231 N. Lake Avenue in Pasadena.

Next Trail Work Day is this Sunday!

Please give back your love of the trail by helping us get it ready for race day. We have lots to do after all the heavy rains. We will be meeting at 7:00A on Sunday, April 30 at the storage bin just above Lizzie’s Trail Inn (and just below the trailhead). Bring gloves, sun protection and water. We will provide the rest! We will work for a few hours then get back to Lizzie’s for some liquid refreshment.

Please Donate to the Fletcher Fund!

If you cannot help on the trail, please give whatever you can to the Fletcher Fund, which pays for our tools and materials used for the maintenance. The rains have been particularly harsh, and we need to spend more than normal on building supplies for new walls and bridges. Please send a check to the Sierra Madre Community Foundation, P.O. Box 716, Sierra Madre, CA 91025. And indicate on the line “Fletcher Fund” so the SMCF knows where to allocate the money. Or you can go to the SMCF website and donate through PayPal or you can use the QR code above.

Announcing the MWTR High School Challenge!

Our hard-working MWTR Committee member David Pejsa is putting together a fun, yet competitive challenge for high school students ages 14 and up. Local high schools will be invited to enter teams of a minimum of five kids, and we will offer a special rate of $25 to register. Prizes will be awarded to top boys, girls and mixed (three boys and two girls). Let’s see who the fastest schools are up and down the mountain! Check the MWTR website to register. If you have any questions, contact David at [email protected].

See you soon on the trail!.
